Origin:
Our vanilla is produced in our vanilla plantation located in Sambava, North East of Madagascar
Vanilla is a spice made of the fruit of the tropical lianescent orchid, of the species Vanilla planifolia.
Historical background:
Originally from Mexico, vanilla was previously used for the flavoring of cocoa. At the end of the 18th century, the French implanted some vanilla trees in Madagascar.
It was not until 1841 that a young slave from Reunion, Edmond Albius, discovered the method of the method of manual fertilization. It is then that the culture of the vanilla tree could take its take off elsewhere than in Mexico (Madagascar, Reunion, Comoros,...).
Madagascar takes the place of the first world producer of vanilla with 80% of the world harvests each year, as well as in term of quality with a rate of vanillin more than 1,8% and of an unequalled perfume.
